Player Development Masterclass
NSX has an exciting 3 day rugby masterclass running at St Joseph’s College for aspiring rugby players during the summer holidays.
The 3 day camp will allow all players to improve every aspect of their game, focusing on the detail required to help accelerate the development process, whilst in a fun and safe environment.
All players are required to bring trainers & boots, as some sessions will take place in the Strength & Conditioning gym, the Sports Hall and of course the rugby pitches!
Day 1 – Morning session – Focus on catch & pass techniques throughout fun skills & games, followed by building an understanding of attacking principles of the game.
Afternoon session – Positions specific skills, followed by attack based games and team building activities.
Day 2 – Morning session – Introducing the core techniques used for grappling & wrestling to develop combat confidence, whilst focusing on the key breakdown and contact skills required for the game.
Afternoon session – Focus on tackle technique through fun skills & games, followed by building an understanding of defensive principles of the game.
Day 3 – Morning session – Recap of catch & pass, position specific and key contact skills through small sided games.
Afternoon session – Team games, providing an opportunity to combine all elements of the 3 day masterclass.
Coaches developing the programme are:
Rowland Winter is the former director of Rugby for Coventry RFC he transformed the club, bringing it into a new era of professionalism, and guiding it to the National League One title in 2018 and a return to the Championship. Prior to Coventry, he held various roles in professional, academy and community rugby. As Director of Rugby of Cambridge RFC, he led the club to win National League 2 in 2016, whilst concurrently heading up the coaching of the Northampton Saints AASE Academy partnership with Moulton College. Rowland has also spent time working with the RFU as a coach educator and directing aspects of the England U20 Divisional and England Counties programme as selector and coach.
